As the summer heat dissipates and autumn arrives, all manner of pumpkin picking, apple bobbing, and spooky treats commence.
But it seems many of us Salt Lake City folk still love our outdoors, even in freezing temps. A solution for many of our restaurant and brewery owners? Bonfires (though you might want to leave the marshmallow skewers at home for this one.)
Read on for five of my favorite hot spots for brews, bonfires, and tasty bites around Salt Lake City.
Beloved as of late for its watermelon gose and around the clock toasted pretzels, T.F. Brewing also divvies out a large patio space with plenty of large fire pits, comfy Adirondack chairs, board games, and dog treats in mason jars. Swing by their outpost just south of downtown for a brew by the bonfire, or simply to see what the food truck outside is dishing out for the evening.
Just west of Sugar House Park rests Campfire Lounge, a funky hangout with a dog-friendly patio and gnarly brunch menu. Cozy up by the fire while noshing on all manner of chicken and waffles, or warm biscuits under a blanket of homemade country gravy.

This roadhouse, bar, and grill dishing out live music offers up cocktails for sipping and fire pits for warming. Just north of downtown, enjoy a large patio and wicked menu of caramelized bacon, twice-fried chicken, and mama's pot pie. Talk about comfort food.
This gastropub in the heart of downtown offers up a buzzy patio space with fire pits and overhead heaters. Enjoy rooftop views while soaking in Utah's changing leaves, the occasional live music, and a menu packed with jalapeno poppers, French onion soup, and plenty of pub grub.
North of downtown rests HandleBar, a neighborhood watering hole pouring up 20 drafts on tap alongside cozy fire pits on chilly evenings. With a menu friendly to both omnivores and vegans, enjoy their famed "tiger wings," baskets full of steak fries, and pretzels built for two.
