5 of the Best Sweet Treats I've Had Around SLC

It has long been made clear I have a significant sweet tooth. Candy, cupcakes, cookies, ice cream — I'll eat it all with zero regrets.

Particularly after the last year and a half, I've grown an immense appreciation for the sweeter things in life. Let's face it, sometime the best cure for a stressful day or a long week is simple one thing: a sweet treat.

Scroll down for five of the best (and sweetest) bites I've had since my move to Salt Lake City.

Based out of Ogden, this small business launched just a few months ago and celebrates their grand opening this Saturday, August 14. Their focus? Freeze dried candy (with maybe some ice cream and fruit in their near future.) My favorite bite of theirs has to be the freeze dried tropical-flavored Skittles (by name of Freeze Dried Brightside Skittles,) but honestly, you can't go wrong with any of their goodies. Their local favorite, the freeze dried gummy peaches, are a must. Not to mention, their freeze dried salt water taffy wont stick to your teeth. Rather, it'll melt on your tongue.

When I shared my sample of Cache Toffee on my Instagram page, a wave of raving support swept through, so it's clear I'm not the only fan of this small batch toffee. Cache divvies out thick pieces of buttery toffee infused with flavors like lime and tequila, green tea leaves, and dried cranberry with apple brandy. Not to mention, they even have a deliverable monthly subscription of the scrumptious bites. I know what I'll be buying as holiday gifts!

I've raved about Icy Mountain before, and I'll do it again. I LOVE shaved ice, and I've loved every cup I've nabbed from Icy Mountain. Particularly, I enjoyed the "Pink Cloud," which is showered in cotton candy syrup, tucked atop a scoop of ice cream, and smothered with sweetened condensed milk, strawberries, sprinkles, and whipped cream. If you're anywhere near Millcreek, prepare for a post-work stop by Icy Mountain several days of the week. Oh, and keep an eye out for their shaved ice truck, too!

I've raved about Normal Ice Cream before, too, and of course, I'll do it again! I'm dying to try their marshmallow soft serve, but always look forward to their specialty "composed cones" they debut each month. There's always something exciting on the menu, but I particularly loved their tiramisu composed cone, made up of mascarpone and coffee soft serve, chunks of buttery cake, and a mascarpone drizzle.

I uncovered Twisted Sugar cookies when I was looking for a deliverable sweet treat after a long day on DoorDash, and WOW. Not only were the cookies just a few dollars apiece, they were unbelievably delicious. My favorites? I loved the gourmet salted caramel, chocolate chip, oatmeal chocolate chip, and twisted sugar cookie (coconut frosting with lime.) They have locations all over, including Cottonwood Heights, Taylorsville, and Herriman.
