As the holiday season approaches and overnight frosts blanket the grass, all manner of comfort food emerges on cozy weekends in or breakfast pit stops on the way out.
One famed cozy treat is none other than the doughnut, beloved for its fluffy texture and sugary glaze varieties. Whether you're nabbing a dozen for the office, nabbing a dozen for the family, or simply nabbing a dozen to stock up for yourself for the weekend, scroll down for four of my favorite shops around Salt Lake City for delicious doughnuts.
Longtime favorite nestled in South Salt Lake is that of Fresh Donuts & Deli. Beloved for their fritters and open 5-5 Monday through Saturday, anticipate busy lines in the mornings, but lines that have proven well worth it. More than a thousand raving Google reviews speak of incredibly soft and sweet donuts, with just the right amount of glaze.
Those tucked on the east side of downtown Salt Lake City sure have a gem for a neighbor. Banbury Cross can be ordered via GrubHub, but you can't go wrong with their dine-in and drive-thru window either. Dishing out donuts, fritters, and muffins every day of the week, we'd recommend the chocolate and cinnamon cake donuts. Our tip? Show up early before they sell out!
Dishing out donuts, muffins, sweet treats, bread, and buns since 1931, Dunford Bakery is another longtime favorite. Open Monday through Saturday, you can't go wrong with a dozen glazed twists or raspberry filled. If you're anywhere near West Jordan, don't miss out!
Nestled in West Valley City is that of Darla's Donuts -- also deliverable via GrubHub but dishing out of their storefront and drive-thru Monday through Saturday. Our recommendation? Nab the apple fritters, peach donuts, and maple bars.
